My excuse for being MIA

I decided at the end of January to buy a house. I had been thinking about it for quite a while, but fate stepped in. I was browsing around the real estate sites, and suddenly there it was! I got chills, it was so perfect. I called an agent, and two days later I was seeing the interior in person for the first time.

A short story made even shorter, I closed on my first home February 25th! Now, for the photos:

My new house!!!I have been moving for the past week, and I've bee so preoccupied that I almost forgot my birthday. My 30th birthday. Thank goodness for my wonderful friends and family. They managed to reel me in and make sure I celebrated this milestone in style. Stay tuned for more fun decorating entries.

Yeah, I know...

It's been a really long time since I've posted. I'm still trying to get into a routine, and things at work are getting more and more hectic.

At least I've been busy with crafting as well as work. I have a few pieces that I need to work on for a friend to give as a gift. I will be sure to post them as soon as I have permission (I'd hate to ruin the surprise!)

Last weekend, I got out the sewing machine after a trip to Sir's Fabric in Fayetteville, TN.

This place is amazing! My mother, sister and I spent two and a half hours in the two warehouses, and could have easily spent more, but had to get back to the families. We vowed to make the hour-and-a-half trip at least once a month.

I bought six yards of golden yellow velvet which I whipped into curtains for my living room. I also got a major deal on three yards of fabric from Mod Green Pod, which produces the most adorable organic printed fabric. I don't know how I didn't know about Nancy and Lisa Mims, but I'm glad that I do now.

This is the print that came home with me:

I will try to make up for my slacking and post my curtains later today.

Look what I just bought!

I love Etsy.com. I look at this site every day, multiple times a day. I find it so inspiring, and full of stuff that's just plain awesome (one of the reasons I have my favorites listed in the widget over there on the left).

After much ooh-ing and ah-ing, I finally bit the bullet and bought this for my bedroom:

Isn't she lovely! She is the creation of the wonderful sfgirlbybay, whose blog I also check daily. She has many other beautiful colors on etsy.

This is going right above my bed, hopefully as part of a collage of things that will also encourage me to "keep calm and carry on". I'll be sure to post the final result.
