I like to make stuff, and have been doing so for as long as I remember. My ideas usually come from a lack of the availability of something I want, or an unwillingness to pay for something I know I can make myself. My creative endeavors usually take the form of jewelry or some sewn object, usually clothing.
I also crochet, cross stitch, paint, draw (or rather, doodle), create graphics when needed, and play around with website design.
Most of what I know about being crafty comes from my mother, who had a job as a seamstress when I was little, and made a lot of clothes for my older sister and me when we were little. I remember learning to use a sewing machine to make dresses for my Barbie dolls out of scraps from my mother's projects.
Like sewing, my desire to create jewelry came from a frustration in what was in the stores. I felt that none of it reflected my personality, and decided to make my own. I took several classes in the art studios at Vanderbilt University, where I met many people who shared my passion.
I decided to begin selling my pieces online after I literally sold several pieces off my body while at work or out with friends. I was told repeatedly "you should sell this in stores!" so, I did. You can find my shop here.
